Meet Dr. Olynik

Dr. Olynik joined Island Oral Facial and Implant Surgery in the summer of 2013. He was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in Oakville, Ontario. He attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver where he graduated as a Science Scholar and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Physiology in 2004. He was awarded the Gold Medal in Dentistry and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of British Columbia in 2008. Dr. Olynik then moved to Houston, Texas to complete a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals. In July of 2012 he obtained his Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. After completing residency he joined the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the Texas Medical Center as an assistant clinical professor. He is currently affiliated with Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and a consultant with the British Columbia Cancer Agency. He has active memberships with the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CAOMS), the British Columbia Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Olynik returns to Nanaimo with his wife, Margaret, and daughter ,Elyse, and twin sons to be close to family and take advantage of the outdoor activities the West Coast has to offer.
