Meet Dr. Crowley

Dr. Crowley began speciality practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Nanaimo in 1993. He was born in Victoria and received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from the University of British Columbia in 1982. He graduated with the Gold Medal in Dentistry in 1986 at UBC and spent 3 years in practice before embarking on surgical residency training. Two of those years were in general dental practice and one year at Shaughnessy Hospital working with patients with facial pain and temporomandibular jaw joint disorders, mouth and mucosa disorders, oral surgery and general care of hospitalized patients. A four year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery was completed at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia in 1993. He returned to British Columbia and completed his British Columbia, Canadian and American Board Examinations. He has been practicing the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery since this time. He has a keen interest in reconstructive jaw surgery along with dental implant surgery. He is currently affiliated with Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Cowichan District Hospital, West Coast General Hospital, and Whitehorse General Hospital. He has affiliation with the Cancer Agency of British Columbia and has been Head of the Department of Dentistry at NRGH for several years. Dr. Crowley is past president of the BC Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and previously a provincial councilor for the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

In addition to providing service on Vancouver Island, Dr. Crowley travels to Whitehorse about every 6 months and provides minor oral surgical treatment for patients in the Yukon Territory. Dr. Crowley has been traveling to Yukon since 1993 and had practiced general dentistry in Yukon in the late 80’s.
