Meet Dr. Olynik
Dr. Olynik joined Island Oral Facial and Implant Surgery in the summer of 2013. Originally from Ontario, he attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Physiology in 2004. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of British Columbia in 2008. Dr. Olynik then moved to Houston, Texas to complete a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals. In July of 2012 he obtained his Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada as a certified specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After completing residency he joined the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the Texas Medical Center as an assistant clinical professor. He is currently affiliated with Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, a consultant with the BC Cancer Agency and a surgeon on the BC Children’s Hospital Cleft Lip/Palate and Craniofacial team. Dr. Olynik is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and has active memberships with the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CAOMS), the British Columbia Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association and the Academy of Osseointegration.
